The Date

Well after several days in the hospital, two more blood transfusions and a few days on an anti-pneumonia antibiotic, they’ve decided I’m ready for the next big step. Never mindcthat I’ve only felt like a human again for two days. They say I’m ready. so this Friday I start phase one - a nine hour infusion of Rituximab (sp?) a cool little drug that maps the cancer cells in my body and identifies them for the killing drugs. Then on Tuesday I check in to the hospital again for the scorch the earth six days of chemo. Again not sure how I’ll react so I’m slightly terrified. I’m also nuts about the bad food at the hospital; being in a small room getting little to no exercise daily; and of course the unknown. what I did learn from my short hospital stint is that I better come prepared. That means eight sets of clothing/pjs to wear, eight sets of underwear, toiletries, a roku stick so you can watch tv otherwise you’re stuck with what they have, my laptop, keyboard and mouse plus chargers. Thinking about bringing a yoga mat to do peloton exercise (knowing me probably wishful thinking), a secure sealed food bag so my family can bring me real food to stay overnight. All other suggestions welcome but at this point it looks like I’m bringing a huge suitcase. I'm sure the three weeks will fly away but it won’t be a pleasure cruise. In the meantime I need to savor every moment as a free woman.
